*Waterway Location~~ Lake Michigan, western entrance to Straits of Mackinac
*Significant Feature~~ Inactive and abandoned for nearly 100 years, this is one of the
Great Lakes' most endangered lighthouses. A movement headed by the Waugoshance
Lighthouse Preservation Society is desperately attempting to save the lighthouse. The
first major crib structure built for a lighthouse on the Great Lakes. Replaced by
White
Shoal and Gray's Reef Lights.
