*Significant Feature~~ When first built in 1858, the lighthouse's tower was attached to the
top of the keeper's house, incorporating the same plans as two other lighthouses, Port
Washington and
Grand Traverse. The existing tower was constructed in 1872, and the
lantern was removed from the top of the keeper's house and the roof reshingled.
