*Waterway Location~~ Lake Superior at mouth of Ontonagon River
*Significant Feature~~ Used as a rear range light, mariners accidentally discovered that if
they lined up the lighthouse light with a lamp hung at the steeple of a prominent church
in town, they would be directed straight into Ontonagon's harbor. Replaced in 1964 by a
battery powered light located at the end of East Pier.
