*Significant Feature~~ Unlike older lighthouses, this lighthouse has no spiral stairway,
only a series of ship's ladders totaling 131 steps. The three stripe markings pattern is
permanently set into the concrete, therefore the tower never needs to be repainted.
Replaced the Cape Fear Lighthouse, which had previously replaced the Bald Head Island
Lighthouse in 1935.
