*Elevation~~ On pier at lake level
*Markings~~ Bottom 1/3 white, middle 1/3 black, top 1/3 white, black lantern
*Light Pattern~~ Flashing red, 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off
*Existing Buildings~~ Radio beacon, keeper's house (located at nearby Coast Guard lifesaving
station)
*Automated~~ 1940
*Original Lens~~ Fourth Order Fresnel
*Current Lens~~ Solar powered normal buoy lens
*Open to Public?~~ Tower is not, but pier is
*Current Owner~~ U. S. Coast Guard
*Waterway Location~~ Presque Isle Bay, Lake Erie
*Significant Feature~~ Built in France, then shipped, almost completely intact, to Erie. Tower
has been moved twice, once in 1858, then to its present position at the end of the north pier in
1940.
