*Significant Feature~~ Due to the proximity to Salem Proper, this lighthouse never was
assigned an official "keeper", merely a "caretaker" until an automated acetylene system
was installed in 1917. Built in conjunction with Hospital Point Range and Fort Pickering
Light to help guide ships into Salem Harbor.
