Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, Chambers Island
was constructed with an octagonal tower in order to be distinguished from Eagle Bluff's
square tower. In 1955, the lantern was removed and replaced with an electric light which
was attached to a 30 foot skeletal pole placed on the top of the lighthouse tower. The
pole and light were removed in 1961 when a new 67-foot tall steel tower light was
constructed between the lighthouse and the shore. The top of the tower remains sans
the lantern.
