*Waterway Location~~ Entrance to Orient Harbor and Peconic Bay, eastern end of Long
Island
*Significant Feature~~ Lighthouse is an almost exact replica of one built on the same spot
in 1871. Decommissioned in 1948, the lighthouse was abandoned and was lost to an
arsonist's torch in 1963. Rebuilt and recommissioned in 1990.
