*Original Lens~~ Third Order Fresnel
*Current Lens~~ 300mm, solar powered, (mounted on catwalk). Original Fresnel lens was
re-installed in lantern room in 1996 after being sent to district headquarters in Cleveland
in 1958.
*Open to Public?~~ Yes
*Current Owner~~ U. S. Coast Guard owns tower, remainder owned by National Park
Service
*Waterway Location~~ Lake Superior
*Significant Feature~~ This lighthouse was called Big Sable Light until 1910. It is also an
exact twin of
Outer Island Light in the Apostle Islands of Wisconsin.
